2018 Water Sweep

October 20, 2018

Louisiana is the “sportsman’s paradise”. Our abundant waterways gave the state this reputation. After a summer of fun on the river it is all of our responsibility to pick-up what was left behind. It is essential to the state’s environment and economy to keep our river and shoreline clean.

“Water Sweep” is an award winning event that encourages groups and individuals to help us clean the scenic Ouachita River and shoreline. Staging sites for the event will be at Lazarre Park, Forsythe Park, Moon Lake Recreation Area, Bawcomville Recreation Area, Black Bayou Lake NWR, Darbonne NWR, ULM/Bayou Desaird and Sterlington Recreation Area. For this event to be successful we need your help. Volunteers are needed to participate for just a few hours. Boaters are needed to provide transportation for participants. Each and every person can make a difference. If you want to organize a cleanup in another body of water in Ouachita Parish please let us know and we will work with you to help out.

Sign-up at any of the staging sites the day of the event. Your group can also pre-register. All pre-registered participants will receive a free tee-shirt while supplies last.
